Xmas Cards just for Xmas?

The other day I received the sweetest card from an old professor. It was in the fashion of a Christmas card, thanking us for our “lovely Christmas note” we sent them. I’ve heard of people getting New Year’s family photographs, but never thought about what people are doing with those photos. Now I get it. The holiday season can get insanely busy, as we’ve all experienced. Gifts to be bought, trees and houses to be decorated and time to be spent with family. While I understand how time slips away from us, and gracefully admit I didn’t get around to sending all of my Christmas cards last year, I find the idea of a holiday card sent around New Years to be a sign of procrastination. However, as the recipient of a sweet, thoughtful card, I have to admit it swayed my opinion. It didn’t matter when I got it, it was the simple fact that I got it. That will teach me to keep an open mind, won't it?
