Did anyone get a chance to watch Oprah on Thursday, Feb. 19th? It was about clutter, with an apparent "clutter expert" Peter Walsh. I used to be a HUGE fan of Oprah, and on occasion I thoroughly enjoy what she has to say. This was one of those days.
After watching them walk unannounced into people's messy homes I became aware of something. If anyone was to come over unannounced to our apartment, it would resemble those poor people on Oprah! That's right, we are messy people. We pickup our apartment only when we know someone is coming over (or when I snap like a twig). And even this past Monday we barely managed to pick up because it was "just the guys." I was embarrassed when one of the guys brought his girlfriend over and I had to quickly cleanup our bedroom before we could watch tv in it.
Hence the reason of why I signed up for Oprah's Clean Up Your Messy House Tour. I'm taking the pledge, and putting it right here on this very blog!
"Today, I, Lauren, commit to my family, home and myself that I will live my best life.
To do this, for the next six months I will become an active member of Oprah's Clean Up Your Messy House Tour. I will work with my family to create a vision for the life and home that we want. With enthusiasm and focus, I will declutter my home, room by room using the tools, techniques and schedule provided by Peter Walsh and Oprah.com. I commit to focusing on the quality of my life and my relationships, not the quantity of stuff I own.
From this day forward, I commit to myself, my home and my family to a clutter-free and organized life.
The vision for my life and home is to make it heaven on earth where I can raise a family, be proud when friends drop by and nurture every relationship within its doors.

Each month you are given an assignment, which you have to take before and after photos of. I think I am willing to share them with you (yikes!). Stay tuned for more!
