Coolest Daycare Ever

It's not easy leaving Gwen with someone else. You know they can never do as good a job as yourself. You can always hope that you've chosen someone who nurtures and develops your child, who you trust to make the best decisions while they're there for the day.  I feel strongly that we were lucky enough to find that person. (Insert huge sigh of relief) It was a little hairy there for awhile when we got down to the wire. There were some people we met who we didn't jive with, and boy am I glad we trusted our instincts.

We decided we wanted to send her to a home daycare and met  quite a few women we were referred to from various referral services in the city. There was a woman who told us she would take our baby to the bathroom with her (we, her parents don't even do that, or at least we try not to. Emergencies happen, I don't want to talk about it, and I'm sure Gwyneth doesn't either). This was after reassuring us she had a playpen for her, in the laundry room. Or the other woman who told us all about how she plops the kids in front of the tv all hours of the day. Or how about the one who told me she couldn't meet with me because she was getting her 'pap?' Needless to say, it was a brush of fresh air when we were referred to the sane woman where we send Gwen to.

She is a trained professional who chose to be at home with her daughter rather than working at a daycare center. She even took the television out of their living room to prepare for her new daycare business. Of course there are a thousand other reasons why we felt comfortable sending Gwen there, but the no-tv thing was a cool selling point.
Anyways, below is one of the many reports we get in our inbox about Gwen and her time at daycare.

Although it is not her favorite activity for now, Gwen is working on tummy time.  This helps to improve strength in her neck to help support her head as she grows.  It may also help lead to crawling one day.  Offering her a toy and lying down with her helps to keep her attention longer, and although the periods of tummy time are brief for now, this will help encourage her to lengthen it each time.

I'm going to go ahead and continue trusting my instincts that Gwen is taken care of and nurtured in her daycare situation.
