What's in a cobbler anyways?
The solution to a family of two with 12 cans of apple pie filling? Share! Every Monday night the husband's friends take over our living room to enjoy watching Heroes & Chuck commercial free. This has given me the opportunity to wow them with my newly acquired baking skills. So far they have eaten leftover cupcakes, brownies and an apple pie. Weekly, I will give my husband the options to choose from which is typically cupcakes, brownies, cake or apple pie. This week the choice was made: apple cobbler. Not having the slightest clue of what is involved in a cobbler, I thought I could get away with dumping the apple pie filling in a casserole dish, throwing some crumble-topping on top, and calling it a cobbler. Well, according to the husband's experience with cobbler at a buffet in town, a little bit of research and discussion, it has come to my attention that cobbler involves pie crust basically put into the apple pie filling, instead of being "crust." It sounds delicious, and I have all the ingredients. We shall see if I can concoct this mysterious thing named cobbler and get back with the results.
