Flowers for Sale

Sometime this week while flipping through the newspaper on break at work, I noticed in the Raley's ad that Rananculuses were on sale for $5.99. I've talked about them all week and was even at Raley's buying flowers for my sister-in-law and didn't buy them. Today, after we had finished our grocery shopping and errands, and were sitting around the house enjoying each other's company, I once again mentioned how I wanted them. Jake brought up how he wanted to buy a book, so we planned on going to the bookstore and Raley's after he finished something he was doing.
I checked my supply of jars/vases/ and odd re-purposed things that would work for a vase. As always, our "honeymoon" vase turned out to be the best. While waiting I filled up the vase with water and set it exactly where I wanted my flowers (in the middle of the kitchen and living room where I will see them all day).

Here they are and well worth the wait. I love fresh flowers, but can't afford to have them all of the time. I also have issues with buying cheap bouquets. Not because they're cheap, but because I lack a florist's touch. It pains me when I take a beautiful bouquet and transfer it to a vase and it winds up looking like crap. I've tried to put them in the vase, crisscrossing and trimming, to no avail. They always look like I took them and plopped them in a vase.
I've always wanted to attend a florist class at our local community college, but haven't seemed to have the spare money laying around. I will figure this out eventually, but for now I can deal with looking at these guys everyday.

That vase is gorgeous! And I love ranunculus too. :) I love how big and puffy they get. I two pots of ranunculus in the backyard but the spring heat is getting to them. Enjoy your flowers!

I love 'em! They look more natural that way!
