October 8th ~ Spread the Joy
Today is my mom's birthday.
Here's something you need to know about her; she's the world's most thoughtful person you will ever meet.
My sister came up with the idea of a unique way to celebrate her on her special day of birth. She sent out letters to all of my mom's friends and family asking everyone to do a random act of kindess on October 8th. A paying it forward idea, if you will.
On the day I got my sister's letter which detailed how awesome my mom is and why we should all join in on this idea, it was of no surprise that I opened a cute card from my mom that had glad tidings, a cute little gift AND a coupon for buy-one-get-one-free pumpkin spice lattes. I get things like this from her on a weekly basis.
And the thing is, I don't get special treatment. Every single one of my mom's friends and family, no matter how distant a cousin, how old a friend, are treated the same way. We all feel important and loved and are all beyond blessed to have her in our lives, let alone to have her as our mother.
So, Marmee in your honor today I anonymously dropped a couple happy notes into people's inboxes here at work, spurred by the joy and greatness that exudes from the wonderful, beautiful, Denise.
Happy Birthday Marmee!
