Lack of Sleep

Two weeks ago Sir Sunderland came home with the chills. He spent the weekend on the couch, bundled up, invalid. Apparently it was going around the office, and lasted two weeks. It went from flu to cold in a week. The next weekend was spent with Sir Sunderland lying on the couch, coughing like I've never heard him cough before.

Try as we may to keep the germs away from the pregnant wife, with kisses on the forehead or sitting with an acceptable distance next to each other,  I inevitably caught the bug. When with child, there's no dayquil or nyquil allowed which makes this cold/flu hybrid that much harder to deal with.

Alas, it is 5 am and I am wide awake, unable to sleep. You see, being pregnant I get up to pee a thousand times within a night. Last night it was at 3 am when I got up to pee and couldn't get back to sleep. Tonight? 2:30 am. I read in a book somewhere and heard from my pregnant hairstylist that this would happen, I just hoped it wouldn't happen to me. I realize we will lose out on sleep when the baby gets here, I just wanted 3 more months of uninterrupted sleep before the next years are tossed to the wind.

I'm a sleeper. I have always been able to sleep anywhere, anytime for ungodly amounts of time. I have a knack for taking naps the second I get bored.  Not being able to sleep is insanely foreign to me. If ever there were a time I couldn't sleep, I'd slip in front of the tv, pop You've Got Mail into the dvd player and would be lulled off to sleep within minutes.

I'm writing this with You've Got Mail in the background in hopes that  I might be able to squeeze in one hour more of sleep before my busy day of meetings, booths and more meetings. Lets hope it does the trick since I've dealt with lack of sleep before (working at Starbucks, procrastinating in college) but never while irritably pregnant and unmedicated with a cold....watch out world!

ooof, i'm like you. i can fall asleep anywhere any time and sleep through the night. i'm sorry that you're sleeping so well. i heard that the times that you wake up in the middle of the night will be the same times that your baby wakes up.
