A Ladybug First Birthday Party

[gallery link="file"]

What a party! Everything was covered in polka dots and black and red. Crepe paper was strewn about, polka dot balloons lined the yard, and Gwen was dressed to the nines with her ruby red slippers.  She made the obligatory mess of her ginormous cupcake and put on quite the show opening and playing with all of her presents.

A few days before the party I asked the husband to put a slideshow on our tv during the party. Little did we know our AppleTV had the coolest slideshow setting ever. We set a playlist from our itunes which was our background music for the party while the photos slowly went across our tv in picture frames. It would've been painstaking to sit and watch that as a slideshow of photos, but as a background for a party it was perfect and fun to look at pictures from the past year.

We also had a cute little photobooth setup in the kitchen where we found it quite difficult to pose with props and a one year old.

And here's a tutorial on the banner I made for behind her highchair.

Our 4th of July

Cute baby
Roses picked from the backyard
Recent discovery of the best beer ever
More cute baby

S'mores for dessert
The baby's been a bit out of whack as far as sleeping goes, so we're calling it a night here at the Sunderland household. Hope you had a great 4th!

Easter Recap....a little late

Sorry I've been a bit MIA this week. I've been doing some soul searching and that's, for one reason or another, taken me away from my blog. Anywho, let me show you how we spent our Easter.
The beer hunt was a success!
The weather was a little cold so we found our beers outside and enjoyed them inside. The party started at 1pm and we didn't stop the fun until 9 pm! This day is not for the weak at heart.

We enjoyed plenty of conversation and tried out a game I got for xmas two years ago and never go around to playing, Partini.
Have you heard of it? It's a mix of Cranium and backwards Catch Phrase with some original content mixed in. Silly me, I thought, seeing as the game is named after a alcoholic beverage and all, that it'd be somehow alcohol related. Coasters are used as cards to draw and see what game you will play. That's where the -tini comes in. We all decided it's going into the garage sale pile. At least we know now!
As for the actual day of Easter, we went to church and spent the day at the in-laws where we were woo'ed by boxes of chocolate on our place settings and some delicious desserts.

We are now appreciating our nice relaxing week as well as recuperating from our sugar-induced comas. I hope everyone had a happy Easter!

Easter Beer Hunt

It's that time of year again! Easter, a time for bright colors, dresses, baskets and hunts. Oh, but wait, we're a little old for egg hunts, what now?

That's right folks, our 3rd Annual Easter Beer Hunt

This weekend we got together to "dye" the beers where we tape off the lids and spray paint them, like so. See the guy in the blue? He's the genius who came up with this novel idea.
We put a drop cloth down in the garage and spray painted away, which resulted in this:
Fumes, and lots of them. That didn't keep us from playing some Apples to Apples, enjoying cupcakes and well, drinking.
This year we are adding a twist.
Cheers!
