Happy March & Featured Sponsor, Pick Your Plum

[caption id="attachment_2787" align="aligncenter" width="240" caption="Sugar Tot Designs"][/caption]

Happy March everyone!

I'd like to take the time to introduce our feature sponsor for the month,

If you haven't heard of them, you'll want to be sure to signup for their daily deals to be delivered to your inbox. Don't turn and run at the sound of "daily deal site" just yet. They are a crafting supplies daily deal site. You heard me, crafting supplies.

I recently purged my inbox of all the daily groupon type sites when I realized I hadn't bought a single thing from any of them in over six months.   Pick Your Plum was the only subscription I kept, seeing as they are the only ones I've ever purchased from. This is because they actually offer quality, great deals on things that I actually want. And they run out of stuff which doesn't really sound like a perk, but it always bothers me when a company advertises urgency about a great deal that you need to jump on, only to see them offering the same thing the next day. Makes it less of a steal if you ask me.

Here are just a few of the cute things they sell at ridiculously steep discounts:

  • They have limited supplies on some of the most swank supplies and have agents out in the field who find killer deals on high quality products.

  • They delicately slap prim-o crafting supplies on our site at a stellar price!

  • They sell it 'til it's gone or 'til time is up.

  • You leave feeling like you just won Martha in a crafting contest.

  • The supplies arrive in 7-8 shipping days and you've just picked your 'plum'! Doesn't it feel good?

{Exceprt from Pick Your Plum's Site}

For the month of March I will be featuring the daily deal via our Facebook page as well as a little button on my sidebar. Happy plumming everyone!

Also say hello to our other equally as awesome sponsors:

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

The awesome part of having a baby is that you get to use them as an adorable decorative prop.  Gwen was kind enough to oblige.

Green Cupcake Monday

I originally made rainbow cupcakes for St. Patrick's Day. Based off of the last post, I assume you know what happened (stupid flour). As I learned from my mother who always had a box of cake mix stocked in her pantry, I fell back on the white cake mix, dyed green of course!
Instead of my typical swirl I wanted to try out the rolling edges in sprinkle techniques. It didn't work. How do people get their edges so smooth? Anyone know?

I also made my own cupcake toppers with glitter, of course. I put them on normal printer paper, which I learned will not suffice for next time. And also, the glitter gets everywhere, including your cupcake. It's got to be non-toxic right? Probably goes straight through the system.

They were topped with my favorite butter cream, a la Wilton. Mmmmmm. Deliciously green cupcakes.

Weekly Dinner Menu

You might notice that we have a couple of repeats on our menu this week. This is because last week zoomed right by. I can't even tell you when, where or what happened, but I can tell you that we were super busy every night of the week. You will be pleased to know that Taco Bell was NOT on our menu this last week, no matter how busy we were. Alas, this week we are trying to keep things low key and, hopefully, a little less stressful.

Thin Mint Cupcake (fail)

A big old goose egg for this cupcake concoction. I got the idea from Pleasant Home's Mint Cookie Cupcakes but made some revisions. I substituted my favorite chocolate cupcake recipe (off the back of the nestle cocoa powder box) for the boxed cake mix. And instead of the grasshoppers I figured it's Girl Scout cookie season, why not use the real thing? Thin mints!

Yup, not a good idea. These things were disgusting. To top it off Sir Sunderland requested cream.......cheese........ frosting.

My stomach is still a little queasy. I don't know what it is, but the thin mints, the rich chocolate and good god, that cream cheese frosting did not mix well.  Eh, it sounded good, but lesson learned. Don't go throwing whatever you want into cupcakes! It's a science people, a science!
